The Marquee – a name forever associated with some of the biggest
names in music - has returned to champion the best new live music and young talent
in the UK.
With the blessing of original Marquee founders Harold and Barbara Pendleton, 'MARQUEE
LIVE' will present the cream of today’s emerging young acts in some of London’s
best venues.
‘MARQUEE LIVE’ launches on 26 January at The Monarch in Camden with three outstanding
new artists who are all fast building followings due to their stunning live performances
and incredible new music:
The original Marquee was the dream of Harold and Barbara Pendleton in 1958 to create
a showcase for the music they loved. In doing so, no name became more celebrated
or made such an important contribution to the growth of popular music in the UK
as the Marquee.
Established as the most exciting showcase for new artists and music in the world,
the Marquee was unprecedented in launching the careers of major artists such as:
The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Yardbirds, Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix,
Cream, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Yes, Black Sabbath, The
Faces, Genesis, Queen, Roxy Music, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Motörhead, The Jam,

Over half a century since the Marquee began but more relevant and needed in today’s
music industry, ‘MARQUEE LIVE’ will provide a platform for the
UK’s best new live music.
